The Firm’s practice areas include:

Business Litigation and Counseling. Firm attorneys represent individuals and businesses engaged in a wide range of industries, including commercial real estate, business equipment, health care, insurance, and software development.

Construction.  The review and resolution of disputes involving construction contractors is an important part of the Firm’s work. The Firm represented one of Georgia’s leading general contractors with regard to the protection of its trade secret and other confidential information. One of the Firm’s partners has extensively litigated construction management and subcontractor issues in multiple cases. Firm lawyers are involved in protecting such interests throughout the southeastern United States.

Employment. Our lawyers litigate a wide range of restrictive covenants and employment contract provisions. The Firm won a significant appellate decision in which many of these issues were clarified anew.

Health Care. The Firm represents both large and small health care practices. It serves as general counsel to an information technology company providing data imaging, front-end speech recognition, and HIPAA compliant reporting systems to health facilities and health care practitioners.

Mediation and Arbitration. Firm lawyers are actively involved in alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. One of the Firm’s partners has served since 1988 as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association on its Commercial/Technology Panel where he has heard and decided some 60 cases. He is a designated Fellow with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Another Firm partner is a certified Mediator.

Technology. The Firm has extensive experience in copyright, trademark and patent protection and infringement issues, including those pertaining to computer software and technology. A Firm partner was engaged in a federal court case of first impression in which the copyright protection of computer screen displays was first established. Firm members are actively involved in trademark infringement cases. One such case was successfully litigated against the third and fourth largest U.S. publisher of magazines and newspapers, respectively. The Firm actively negotiates and litigates licensing agreements of varying kinds. Among the business areas in which the Firm’s licensing work has been performed are telecommunications, global positioning satellite system technology, voice recognition software, cybersecurity, medical devices, medical communications software, and cash management systems for banks and financial institutions.

Understanding the dynamics of the businesses that we represent and litigate against is a key tactical expertise of the Firm.  Either prior to or while working as attorneys, our partners have been employed by environmental and construction service firms, cybersecurity firms, beverage companies, health care entities, and software start-ups. Firm attorneys have first-hand knowledge of the business issues which confront these industries, which contributes to the business savvy the Firm strives to deliver with each representation it undertakes.
